I'm looking for some thoughts & feedback please.
I ordered my 2015 coding books last week for work (and for me to re-take the CPC) through AAPC with my membership discount.

This afternoon, the front office manager brought me a fax from OptumCoding for the books (also wants to know why I didn't order her a set, ??). However, they are offering the CPC and not CPT. ... would the AAPC allow this book for the board exams? Also do you think their ICD-10 mapping book would be a good investment? I'm riding that tetter-totter and my migraine is really getting a headache. LOL...

Thanks in advance

Anne

Hi Anne,

I'm not completely following this "they are offering the CPC not the CPT"?

Hi Laureen,

You're just as confused as I am. :\
They are offering the coding book: "CPC" - Current Procedural Coding Expert vs. "CPT" Current Procedural Terminology.

Ah ok thanks for clarifying. No you can't use that version on the exam. See this page for list of approved manuals https://www.aapc.com/certification/cpc.aspx (scroll to bottom and click on 2nd tab "approved manuals")

You're more than welcome, and thank you. I was going with my 'gut instinct'. Honestly, I didn't even know the books listed on the AAPC non-approved list existed. Why would someone want to "cheat" themselves out of learning their job?
